Life has been a whirl-wind since getting married. We've moved to Iowa, are settling into a new apartment, and I've started a successful career as an insurance agent, while Michael makes his way through his freshman year of Podiatry School at DMU. It's been quite an adjustment and there's a long road ahead of us, before we're able to make it back to Texas, but we're just trying to enjoy the ride...

"Oh the places you'll go..."

"Oh the places you'll go!...You're off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting so get on your way!" -Dr. Seuss

Michael's gift this Valentines Day was inspired by this quote, which I have loved since first reading the book "Oh the Places you'll Go". Although the book was presumably written for kids lol, I found it pretty inspiring for my new life as an adult. Since Michael has really never gotten to travel and so desires to, I thought the perfect gift would be a pin-board map for us to keep track of all of our world travels, plus a promise to experience the many wonders of the world. Though the map looks a little pathetic with 5 pins on it, one day it will be covered with little colored dots and we can proudly display it in the office. Hopefully at this point, it will also be framed haha ($200 just seemed like too much to spend on a frame, considering I'm between jobs)! In addition to the map, I got lucky and found a star-wars heart box of candies and I made homemade scratch off lotto tickets. I think he was probably most impressed by those.

I made this as a menu board, to keep track of the meals for the week, but Valentines Day seemed more important at the time

While trying to make the day all about him and less of a mushy, made-up holiday, I attempted to incorporate manliness into everything we did. For breakfast, I made hashbrowns, heart-shaped sausage and egg casseroles, and chocolated covered strawberries decorated as footballs. Though breakfast wasn't quite ready on time...more like an hour late...we both enjoyed it and Michael appreciated me taking the time. After breakfast, Michael had to get back to his studies and I had a kitchen to clean, so we really didn't do anything else until that evening.

Sticking with my manliness theme, I made nachos for dinner with homemade salsa and "adult" rootbeer floats with vanilla vodka, and planned to take Michael to a local hockeygame. He loves hockey and I thought it would be something different from the norm, but at the last minute we randomely decided to go bowling instead. Unfortunately, when we got to the bowling Alley, the wait for a lane was over an hour and we get so little time together, we didn't want to just wait around, so we decided on a movie. Yep, there were lots of changes of plans! Anyway it was the first time we've been to the theaters since moving here and we really enjoyed it.

My Tulips opened up!

I got us both kissy-face lollipops haha

Soo, that pretty much sums up the events for the week. Other than that, Michael has continued to study and I was able to do some deep cleaning because I had the week off. Since I'm starting my new job tomorrow and I will probably have less time, last night I picked up some chick-fil-a for dinner and Michael took some time off so we could watch a movie on netflicks together. Lot of excitement going on here ;) Well, guess I better head to bed...tomorrow is a big day!
